The plastic surgeon gives tips on how to get back in shape after pregnancy
Waking up several times in the morning is just one of the many changes in Mom’s life. Aesthetically, after childbirth, the most visible change in the female form is the accumulation of weight. The recovery of physical form is directly related to the number of pounds that put on weight during pregnancy and the habits adopted before and after delivery.
According to Paulo Hypacio, a Consultant in plastic surgery at the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, after pregnancy, you can have the same body again.
“After the baby is born, the woman already sheds about 6 kilos due to the release of fluids from pregnancy, plus the placenta and the baby’s weight. In addition, breastfeeding also contributes to weight loss, due to the release of a hormone called oxytocin, which has the function of ejecting milk ”, said Paulo Hypacio.
To help with weight loss, the doctor says that strict physical exercises are not recommended. However, walking, water aerobics, and stretching can become great allies for women at this stage of life. A balanced diet is effective in helping to reduce body mass, in addition to meeting the baby’s physiological needs.
“It is essential to maintain a diet rich in protein, so it is necessary to eat lean meats, fish and eggs, in addition to drinking plenty of fluids,” recalled the doctor.
Paulo says that when the woman’s body is in its natural form, stretch marks and flabby skin can be identified. Because of this, the main targets of surgical procedures are the breasts and the abdomen.
“After pregnancy, the breast tissue may sag and fall. In this case, it is possible to perform a mastopexy with or without implantation of silicone prostheses. The technique consists of removing excess skin and fat in order to lift the breast structures ”, reported Paulo Hypacio.
The plastic surgeon also says that liposuction and abdominoplasty are also in the ranking of most sought after surgeries.
Finally, the specialist warns that the safety of plastic surgery is an extremely important step for the success of its realization. “Postpartum surgery is only recommended after six months of stopping breastfeeding,” said the plastic surgeon, Paulo Hypacio.
