Do you have any idea why we call it wisdom tooth?

Because it’s erupt during the time your brain become mature thus it’s the last tooth to erupt in patient’s mouth and its erupt between the age 18 and 25. Most of the time this tooth has no space in the jaw to erupt that’s why it’s remain impacted inside the bone or partially erupted. Third molars or wisdom teeth located at the end of the jaw thus this area is very far away, that’s why many people forget and suffer many difficulties in reaching that area by toothbrush or other measures of oral hygiene therefor it’s easy to have cavitation due to accumulation of bacteria there.

Usually in most cases, wisdom teeth need to be extracted because of the difficulties to reach that area by dental instruments. Moreover, there are Many Other reasons for Extraction:-

• Infection
• Caries especially deep caries that reach the pulp as it’s very rare to do root canal treatments for wisdom tooth.
• It can Damage and affect the adjacent tooth.
• Over erupt above the level of other teeth due to absence of opposing tooth.

Some people think the crowding in their teeth due to the presence of the third molars!! But actually there is no clear evidence for that as one tooth cannot push group of teeth.
